Community Building
Text Messaging
Send and Receive SMS Text messages from your website content management system. Have alerts sent to you when someone update your content, blogs or forums.
Send messages to buddies or colleagues within your circle or group.
Custom Profiles
The profile module allows you to define custom fields (such as country, real name, age, ...) in the user profile. This permits users of a site to share more information about themselves, and can help community-based sites to organize users around profile fields.
The following types of fields can be added to the user profile:
- single-line textfield
- multi-line textfield
- checkbox
- list selection
- freeform list
- URL
- date
Private Messaging / Pinging other Members
The private messaging module allows users to send messages to each other without having to share email addresses. An inbox link will appear in the navigation menu. The "write to author" links are included in posts, allowing users to write a private message instead of commenting openly. Allowing users to communicate directly is an important part of building the strength of the community.
Invite
Invitations are important to create network effects and exponential growth of a community of interest. This module adds an 'Invite a friend' feature that allows your users to send and track invitations to join your site.
Forums
The forum module lets you create threaded discussion forums for a particular topic on your site. This is similar to a message board system such as phpBB. Forums are very useful because they allow community members to discuss topics with one another, and they are archived for future reference.
Comments
The comment module creates a discussion board for each post. Users can post comments to discuss a forum topic, weblog post, story, collaborative book page, etc. The ability to comment is an important part of involving members in a community dialogue.
Chat Rooms
Realtime Chat using state of the art AJAX technology. Allow members to create and moderate chatrooms.
Colleagues Invite / Invitations
Whenever a person responds to an invitation from the invite module and joins the site, the inviter and invitee are added to each other's list. This is a powerfule way to bring your membership conversions rate up.
Colleagues List
Buddy list enables users to keep a list of buddies from their social network in their user account. Users can also track what their buddies are posting to the site. Furthermore, they can track their buddies' buddies and thereby explore their social network.
Blogs
The blog module allows registered users to maintain an online journal, or blog. Blogs are made up of individual blog entries, and the blog entries are most often displayed in descending order by creation time.
There is an (optional) Blogs menu item added to the Navigation menu, which displays all blogs available on your site, and a My blog item displaying the current user's blog entries. The Blog entry menu item under Create content allows new blog entries to be created.
