Video Podcasting
Video Podcasts is a term used for the online delivery of video on demand, or a video clip. eSuiteTools allows use of this media tool in a variety of ways within the system: Media room, customer profile, in a grouped area for presentation , an ability to download this to be viewed later, or they can be viewed immediately with the built in player or use your favorite desktop player.
Audio Podcasting
The Audio Podcasting component allows users with proper permissions to upload audio files. Each audio item is created as its own individual audio node. The audio module uses the getID3 library to read and write ID3 meta-tag information to and from the audio file. Pages that display the most recent audio files submitted to the site, as well as the most recent audio files uploaded by individual users are also generated. Feeds from these pages are 'podcast friendly'. We utilize the XSPF Flash player (by default) when setting up pages for this purpose.
Search
The search module adds the ability to search for content by keywords. Search is often the only practical way to find content on a large site. Search is useful for finding users and posts by searching on keywords.
The search engine works by maintaining an index of the words in your site's content. It indexes the posts and users. You can adjust the settings to tweak the indexing behaviour.
Custom Profiles
The profile module allows you to define custom fields (such as country, real name, age, ...) in the user profile. This permits users of a site to share more information about themselves, and can help community-based sites to organize users around profile fields.
The following types of fields can be added to the user profile:
- Single-line textfield
- Multi-line textfield
- Checkbox
- List selection
- Freeform list
- URL
- Date
Polls / Voting
The poll module can be used to create simple polls for site users. A poll is a simple multiple choice questionnaire which displays the cumulative results of the answers to the poll. Having polls on the site is a good way to get instant feedback from community members.
Panel Applets
Panels is the core engine for a number of submodules, including panels-pages, panels-nodes, and mini-panels. Panels allows the website adminstrator (or sometimes the end-user) to manipulate the layout of individual pages, sidebars, and content pieces, as well as easily dictate what content is displayed in the layout.
Menus
Menus are a collection of links (menu items) used to navigate a website. The menu module provides an interface to control and customize the powerful menu system. Menus are primarily displayed as a hierarchical list of links using a highly flexible blocks feature. Each menu automatically creates a block of the same name. By default, new menu items are placed inside a built-in menu labelled Navigation, but administrators can also create custom menus.
Tags / Taxonomy / Catagories
The taxonomy component is one of the most popular features because users often want to create categories to organize content by type. A simple example would be organizing a list of music reviews by musical genre.
News Aggregator
The news aggregator is a powerful on-site RSS syndicator/news reader that can gather fresh content from news sites and weblogs around the web.
Invite
Invitations are important to create network effects and exponential growth of a community of interest. This module adds an 'Invite a friend' feature that allows your users to send and track invitations to join your site.
